Zakopane
First mentions of Zakopane date back to 1605. It was granted civic rights by Stephen Báthory of Poland in 1578. A legend has it that the name (Eng. "buried"; przyp. tłum.) comes from a fertility test of soil in which a few grains were buried. The Zakopane parish was founded in 1846.
Gubałówka
Gubałówka peak is one of the most frequently visited and most popular places in Zakopane. Probably there is no tourist who did not reach the peak of Gubałówka. The construction of the Gubałówka Hill Funicular started in July 1938 and was finished in December 1938. After total modernisation in 2001, the Gubałówka Hill Funicular became one of the most modern funiculars. The bottom station is located at 823 m, and the top station - at 1122 m. The funicular carries c.a. 2000 people per an hour, and 120 people at a time. Average time of ride: c.a. 3.5 minutes. The tourists will find numerous attractions in the top clearing, for instance, they may admire the magnificent panorama of the Tatra Mountains and Zakopane. Every tourist will find something for themselves. There are restaurants, gardens of catering facilities, as well as many buffets on the top of Gubałówka.
A wonderful place for the lovers of summer hikes and cycle trips. In the summer the visitors may take advantage of a 750 m gravitational cart slide with the difference of 45 m. The youngest tourists will find here a playground, sandpit and summer skating rink. In the winter, everyone is welcome to have fun on 300 m Górna Polana ski tow, take advantage of ski-service, skiing equipment rental company, as well as skiing school.
The program includes: Zakopane - Funicular ascend to Gubałówka, hiking to the peak of Butorowy Wierch, Funicular descent, Church of Our Lady of Fatima, Pęksowe Brzysko Cemetery, free time - Krupówki street: c.a. 2 hours.

Funiculars to Gubałówka, Kasprowy Wierch and Butorowy Wierch are available to tourists during the whole season. Walking around Zakopane one may visit numerous museums and galleries. There are a lot of historical buildings in Krupówki street. Moreover, there is an abundance of restaurants, pizza bars, regional inns with live highlanders' music and local delicacies.
