Lviv - founded in the 13th century by Daniil, the prince of Halicz, who gave this city to his son Lev after whom Lviv was called. One of the most important cities in Polish history, repeatedly besieged by the Tatars, the Turkish people and the Cossacks, not invaded until the early 18th century by the Swedish (Charles XII).

Lviv was the cradle of Polish culture. It was inhabited by many prominent Polish people (Kasprowicz, Staff, Makuszyński, Styka, Grottger, Kossak, Konopnicka and Zapolska).

Lviv is not similar to any other city in the world. Its unique architecture was shaped by various European styles between the 13th and 20th century. The specific architectural landscape of Lviv reflects the beauty of its monuments showing the picture of the past.

The city is full of cobbled streets, nice nooks and colourful tenements. The Polish people often associate it with the borderland full of nostalgic longings.
